P7 – Mathematics: Let your Child Understand Ratios

About Course
๐ Understanding Ratios
Ratios are a powerful way to compare quantities. Whether youโre dividing money among friends, sharing pencils in class, or organizing a choir, ratios help ensure fairness and proportion.
A ratio tells us how much of one thing there is compared to another. For example, a ratio of 2:3 means that for every 2 units of one item, there are 3 units of another.
๐ง Why Ratios Matter
- Fair distribution: Used in sharing resources like money, food, or time.
- Scaling quantities: Helpful in recipes, construction, budgeting, and planning.
- Problem-solving: Common in exams, business, and everyday decision-making.
๐งฎ Basic Steps to Solve Ratio Problems
- Add the parts of the ratio to get the total number of parts.
- Divide the total quantity by the total number of parts to find the value of one part.
- Multiply the value of one part by the number of parts for the group youโre interested in.
